STORE THE SUN!!

South Australia has just announced it will soon have a huge solar farm with batteries , under construction. Well I would like to see that in Northern Victoria, to replace the output from Hazelwood coal fired Power station , that is closing in Gippsland. There's plenty of sun in Victoria.

Livin' with my eyes closed, goin' day to day
I never knew the difference, I never cared either way
Lookin' for a reason, searchin' for a sign
Reachin' out with both hands, I gotta feel the kick inside
All fired up (now I believe there comes a time)
All fired up (when everything just falls in line)
All fired up (we live an' learn from our mistakes)
All fired up, fired up, fired up.

Written by Solar Citizens, a non -profit citizens group devoted to renewable energy, especially solar:

Australia’s electricity grid is ageing, inefficient and polluting - and it needs an upgrade, ASAP. What’s more, a complete lack of planning by the federal government has seen power prices skyrocket and much-needed investment flee Australia’s rust-bucket electricity grid.

Luckily we have the know-how to ensure affordable, reliable and clean electricity for all Australians, all that’s lacking is leadership. Renewable energy plus storage is the cheapest and cleanest way to upgrade Australia’s grid and right now there are multiple innovative storage projects that could get us off to a flying start.

Will you join me in signing Solar Citizens’ petition calling on the Turnbull Government to build big storage? http://www.solarcitizens.org.au/build_big_storage

Storage plus renewable energy can provide 24-hour clean power. Technology like batteries, concentrated solar thermal and pumped hydro store energy from the wind and sun that can be easily dispatched when we need it.

There are twenty major renewable energy projects under construction this year, providing 3,000 direct jobs between them. Imagine if we could store all that clean energy, ready and waiting to be dispatched when needed.
