ENVY

Envy can lead to other sins. I think that's its main fault. It can make the person do bad things, or spend too much money, defame, sabotage, even murder.
We only see the tip of the iceberg of another's life. We don't see their problems and struggles most of the time. Those we envy might not have it quite so good. That goes for people, but also for countries. We should all stop pulling each other down.

When might envy be arguably justified? Well , violent revolutions have occurred throughout history, where the top 1% own most of the wealth. Our societies should take note of that. The very rich should stop accumulating, and try to share more, lest the envy of the have -nots boil over.

I'm lucky enough to not envy anyone as I'm satisfied with what I have. However, I am very aware of unfairness in terms of what some have (whether they've earned it or not) and what others do not, and that makes me resentful of the way our society is geared up for the very wealthy and so against the poorest. I would definitely applaud much higher taxes for the very rich if it were used to constructively help the poor and balance our wealth. People that are struggling with 2 or even 3 low skilled jobs (just to put food on the table to feed a family) are working very hard but they may still only be earning £15,000 a year. Compare that to a multi millionaire who could be spending most of their time on the golf course and exotic holidays, and it's shameful. I don't begrudge some being wealthier than others, it's the degree of difference that's so wrong.
Yes, I understand that there are some obscene salaries being made in the financial district in London again.
There really should be a maximum wage. Billionaires are entirely unnecessary. What could anyone possibly need with all that wealth.
A maximum wage is a great idea. As for what they are doing with the money, well the latest thing is a survivalist bunker. So I'm preparing a post on that. Stay tuned!
